Ian Hamilton Finlay – based in Scotland & interested in visual poetry.
Sister Corita Kent – the screen printing Nun – focused on community outreach & allowing the public access to screen printing.
Nieves – another artist.
More recently there has been an increase in book fairs, independent book sellers, libraries.
Opening in 2012, for his research he studied BA book arts & crafts at London College of Communication.
Graduated in 2006, was such a niche market & so he decided to start his own studio.
Visited the US in 2011, spent 3 months there,
New York – Baltimore – Washington – Minnesota – Portland – Chicago – New Oregan – LA
Printed Matter in NYC was the first artist bookstore in the world.
The Studio in UK
Obtained equipment from the Nautilus Paper Mill.
Found a premises in Fish Island
They run workshops to the public every weekend & offer s membership scheme.they also run a bookshop.
Exist primarily to allow artists access
to their facilities.
